Demonstrating discipline, dedication and a strong sense of civic responsibility, National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets from Kolkata ‘B’, Kolkata ‘C’ and Darjeeling Groups are assisting local police in managing crowds at Durga Puja pandals across West Bengal.
Operating under the aegis of the NCC Directorate West Bengal and Sikkim, the cadets are helping regulate the movement of visitors, manage crowds and extend assistance to senior citizens and devotees during the festive celebrations.
With thousands of people visiting Durga Puja pandals to offer prayers and participate in the festivities, crowd management remains a key priority. The NCC cadets are working alongside local police to facilitate the smooth movement of visitors and contribute to a safer and more orderly festive environment.
Their efforts reflect the NCC’s core values of unity, discipline and selfless service. By supporting law enforcement personnel on the ground, the young cadets are demonstrating how youth participation can make a meaningful contribution to public service and community welfare.

Beyond their regular training, the cadets’ involvement in festival management provides an opportunity to put their discipline, organisational skills and sense of responsibility into practice. Their assistance to elderly visitors and devotees also highlights the importance of compassion and public service during large-scale religious gatherings.
The initiative underscores the NCC’s continuing role in nurturing responsible citizens and encouraging young people to contribute actively to society. Through their dedicated service during Durga Puja, the cadets are reinforcing the spirit of unity and demonstrating that nation-building begins with serving the community.
Their presence at the pandals stands as a testament to the commitment of India’s youth to public safety, civic duty and the collective spirit of the nation.
