The Department of Military Affairs (DMA) has recorded significant progress in cleanliness drives, record management and disposal of pending matters following the nationwide Special Campaign 5.0 on Swachhata conducted in October 2025.

Between November 2025 and August 2026, the DMA organised 329 Swachhata campaigns, during which 18,255 files were reviewed and 8,688 files weeded out as part of efforts to streamline official records and improve administrative efficiency.

To sustain the campaign beyond Special Campaign 5.0, the DMA directed all its attached and subordinate offices to devote two hours every week to Swachhata-related activities. The department is now working towards the objectives of Special Campaign 6.0, scheduled from October 2 to October 31, 2026.

During Special Campaign 5.0, the three Services conducted cleanliness drives at 5,274 identified campaign sites. Various organisations under the DMA also simplified 455 rules and processes, while the disposal and sale of scrap generated revenue of approximately ₹41.65 crore.

Significant progress was also reported in record management, with 7,18,898 physical files reviewed and 9,602 files weeded out during the campaign.

The initiatives form part of the Ministry of Defence’s broader efforts to promote workplace cleanliness, rationalise records, simplify administrative processes and improve overall efficiency across defence establishments.
