The 43rd Indian Coast Guard (ICG) Commanders’ Conference is set to begin at Coast Guard Headquarters in New Delhi on September 17, bringing together the Service’s senior leadership for a three-day review of maritime security challenges, operational preparedness and capability development.
Minister Of State for Defence Shri Sanjay Seth will address the senior commanders on the opening day. His interaction with the leadership is expected to underline the government’s focus on strengthening the Indian Coast Guard’s capabilities and its role in safeguarding India’s maritime interests and national security.
The annual commanders’ conference serves as the ICG’s apex professional forum, providing a platform for senior commanders from across the country to deliberate on strategic, operational and organisational priorities.
The September 17-19 conference will focus on current and emerging maritime security challenges, operational readiness and resource deployment, capability enhancement and force modernisation, as well as organisational priorities aligned with India’s broader maritime strategy.
The conference will also review ongoing efforts towards indigenisation and capability development under the Make in India initiative, in keeping with the government’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat vision.
With India’s maritime security environment evolving amid expanding economic and strategic interests at sea, the conference is expected to provide direction on strengthening the Coast Guard’s operational preparedness and building a more modern, self-reliant and future-ready force.
The three-day deliberations will conclude with a review of key organisational and capability priorities aimed at enhancing the ICG’s ability to protect India’s sovereign maritime interests.
