Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Dhiraj Seth has embarked on an official three-day visit to Russia from 16 to 18 September, with a focus on strengthening India-Russia defence cooperation and enhancing military-to-military engagement.
During his visit to Moscow, General Seth will receive a ceremonial Guard of Honour and pay homage to fallen soldiers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. He is also scheduled to hold discussions with Colonel General Andrei Nikolayevich Mordvichev, Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Land Forces, on issues of mutual interest, including professional military cooperation and training.
The Army Chief will visit the National Defence Control Centre in Moscow and engage with senior officials of the Russian Ministry of Defence, including Deputy Defence Minister Vasily Sergeyevich Osmakov, who oversees defence industry and procurement.
The engagements are expected to facilitate exchanges on contemporary military developments and explore avenues for further expanding bilateral defence cooperation.
As part of the visit, General Seth will travel to Saint Petersburg, where he is scheduled to visit the Mikhailovskaya Military Artillery Academy and interact with its leadership and faculty.
The visit underscores the importance accorded by India and Russia to sustained military diplomacy and Army-to-Army engagement. The planned interactions are expected to provide further impetus to bilateral military cooperation and the longstanding India-Russia defence partnership.
