A high-level Stores Coordination Meeting was held today at the Eastern Railway Headquarters to reinforce material availability and streamline the supply chain, with a strong focus on enhancing passenger safety, reliability, and travel comfort. The initiative was conducted under the leadership and guidance of General Manager Shri Milind Deoskar.

The meeting was attended by Principal Chief Mechanical Engineer Shri Permanand Sharma, Principal Chief Materials Manager Shri Sandip Shukla, and senior officers from the Stores, Mechanical, and Electrical departments.

Addressing the gathering, General Manager Shri Milind Deoskar delivered a keynote speech emphasizing that every operational decision must ultimately serve the passengers by ensuring a safe and comfortable journey. He highlighted that proactive planning, seamless inter-departmental coordination, and the swift removal of supply chain bottlenecks are essential to guarantee the constant availability of critical materials. This proactive approach, he noted, directly enhances the mechanical reliability of trains, eliminates delays, and reinforces the safety and overall efficiency of train operations across the Eastern Railway network.

The discussions centred on ensuring the uninterrupted availability of critical components required for the maintenance of Carriage & Wagon assets and Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) services, both of which are essential for delivering safe, clean, and reliable train operations. Senior officials conducted a comprehensive review of key operational areas, including demand forecasting, procurement planning, inventory optimisation, timely material distribution, and enhanced coordination among departments to improve overall supply chain efficiency.

The meeting concluded with a collective commitment from all participating departments to strengthen collaboration and ensure seamless execution of production and maintenance activities, thereby supporting safe, efficient, and passenger-centric railway operations.

Commenting on the meeting, Chief Public Relations Officer Shri Shibram Majhi stated that under the General Manager’s leadership, this meet ensures maintenance wings are equipped on time to uphold passenger safety. He added that streamlining the supply chain today directly guarantees more reliable, punctual, and comfortable journeys for passengers tomorrow.
