Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya led the 88th edition of Fit India Sundays on Cycle at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, where more than 5,000 participants joined the special BRICS Run & Ride 2026 event.
India cricket team head coach Gautam Gambhir, wrestler Sangram Singh, and representatives from BRICS partner nations also participated, giving the event a strong international character.
The cycling movement was simultaneously held at 25,000+ locations across India, reinforcing its growing national reach.
Dr. Mandaviya said the 88th edition was particularly significant as India prepares to host the 18th BRICS Summit at Bharat Mandapam on September 12–13. He highlighted cycling’s triple benefits—better fitness, lower pollution and reduced traffic congestion—and urged citizens to make it part of their weekly routine.
Gautam Gambhir, who flagged off the ride, described Fit India as more than an event, calling it a movement for a fitter, stronger and more self-reliant India, particularly driven by the country’s youth.
The event featured cycling, fitness activities and an ITBP brass band performance, creating a vibrant atmosphere just after National Sports Day.
Organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in collaboration with the Cycling Federation of India, Raahgiri Foundation and MY Bharat, Sundays on Cycle is conducted nationwide through the SAI and Khelo India network.
From Delhi to 25,000+ locations, the message was clear: fitness is not just a personal goal—it is a national movement.
