The Sub-Junior Boys (U-15) category of the 65th Subroto Cup International Football Tournament 2026 concluded at Air Force Station Jalahalli on September 9, with Manikpara Vivekanand Vidyapeeth, West Bengal lifting the coveted title after defeating Kamrup Metropolitan Senior Secondary School, Assam, 1-0 in a closely contested final at the Subroto Football Ground.
The tournament witnessed the participation of 32 teams, including an international team from Sri Lanka, providing a competitive platform for emerging football talent and showcasing the skill, discipline and sporting spirit of young players.
Air Marshal S Shrinivas, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Training Command, Indian Air Force, presided over the closing ceremony as the Chief Guest. Former international footballer and former captain of the Indian national football team, Shanmugam Venkatesh, attended the event as the Guest of Honour.
The closing ceremony featured an impressive performance by the Air Warrior Drill Team (AWDT), followed by a vibrant cultural presentation by students of PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya Nos. 1 and 2, Jalahalli.
The winning West Bengal team was awarded a cash prize of ₹4 lakh, while the runners-up from Assam received ₹2 lakh. Rajee Tyngsong of the Assam team was adjudged the Best Player of the Tournament and received a cash prize of ₹50,000.
Addressing the participants at the closing ceremony, Air Marshal S Shrinivas congratulated the players, officials and organising committee for the successful conduct of the tournament. He commended the teams for the competitive spirit displayed throughout the championship and appreciated the sportsmanship demonstrated on the field.

The Chief Guest encouraged the young footballers to pursue excellence with dedication, discipline and perseverance, emphasising that sporting competition plays an important role in nurturing teamwork, leadership and character among the youth.
