In recognition of their exemplary service during the Taratala disaster response, the Chief Minister of West Bengal felicitated personnel of the Indian Army’s Eastern Command for their outstanding contribution to rescue and relief operations.Representing Eastern Command, Major General DK Singh, GOC, Bengal Sub Area, received the honour from West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari.
The troops of Eastern Command displayed exceptional courage, professionalism and unwavering commitment while conducting round-the-clock rescue efforts in the affected area. Their swift mobilisation and coordinated response played a vital role in saving lives, assisting civil authorities and providing timely relief to those impacted by the disaster.
The felicitation acknowledged the Indian Army’s steadfast dedication to humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR) operations, underscoring its commitment to supporting civil administration during emergencies. The operation once again highlighted the Armed Forces’ readiness, discipline and resolve in safeguarding lives during times of crisis.
