Cadets of the 1 Assam Battalion NCC, Guwahati Group, participated in Independence Day ceremonial parades at various venues in Guwahati and Nalbari on Friday, showcasing discipline and coordinated drill performances as part of the 80th Independence Day celebrations.
At the Central Parade Ground in Khanapara, Guwahati, NCC cadets took part in the main state-level parade. The 1 Assam Bn NCC Junior Wing Girls Band Contingent secured the first runners-up position. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma presented the trophy to the contingent.
The St. Francis De Sales School Brass Band, associated with the NCC, also performed at the venue. Its coordinated musical presentation was appreciated by the audience.
An NCC contingent from 1 Assam Bn NCC separately participated in the Independence Day programme at the Gauhati High Court. The event was presided over by Chief Justice of Assam Ashutosh Kumar. The cadets took part in the ceremonial proceedings, maintaining standard drill discipline.
In Nalbari, the NCC contingent of Nalbari College secured the first runners-up position in the district-level Independence Day parade held at the Central Parade Ground. Finance Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah presented the trophy.
The NCC’s participation across the venues highlighted the cadets’ training in discipline, leadership, teamwork and civic responsibility, with their drill and band performances forming an integral part of the Independence Day celebrations in the state.
