Minister of State for Defence Shri Sanjay Seth inaugurated the newly constructed Multi-Level Car Parking Facility at the Defence Offices Complex, Africa Avenue, New Delhi, today.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Sanjay Seth underscored the Government’s commitment to developing and upgrading urban infrastructure by providing world-class facilities. He described the project as a significant step towards addressing parking constraints within the Defence Offices Complex and highlighted the role of advanced technology in resolving infrastructure challenges in metropolitan cities, where land is a scarce resource.
The Minister stated that the adoption of modern infrastructure solutions not only optimises the use of available space but also enhances workplace efficiency by facilitating the transition from conventional systems to advanced technologies.
Commending the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) for completing the project within the stipulated timeframe, Shri Sanjay Seth appreciated the quality, functionality and aesthetics of several landmark projects executed by CPWD, including the MP Flats, Kartavya Bhawans and the Executive Enclave.
The 14-storey Multi-Level Car Parking Facility has been developed using fully automatic robotic (dolly-type) parking technology to maximise parking capacity within the available land parcel. The facility offers nearly 60 per cent higher space utilisation compared to conventional parking systems and has been constructed at a cost of approximately ₹45 crore.
Equipped with CCTV surveillance and a comprehensive fire safety system, the automated parking facility ensures minimal human intervention and eliminates vehicle emissions within the parking structure after vehicles enter the lift lobby, thereby promoting operational efficiency and environmental sustainability.
