In a significant success for the security forces, Assam Rifles facilitated the surrender of four hardcore cadres of the proscribed United Liberation Front of Asom (Independent) [ULFA(I)] during an intelligence-based operation along the Chupkhao Track in Longding district of Arunachal Pradesh.
The surrender followed sustained intelligence gathering, surveillance, operational planning and engagement by the security forces, which encouraged the insurgents to lay down their arms and return to the mainstream.
The cadres surrendered four weapons, along with ammunition and other war-like stores, dealing a significant blow to the operational capabilities of the insurgent outfit in the region.
The operation highlights the effectiveness of sustained counter-insurgency efforts combining security measures with outreach initiatives to encourage insurgents to give up violence and choose the path of peace.
The Indian Armed Forces reiterated their commitment to maintaining peace, stability and security across the North Eastern Region. The latest surrender also reflects growing confidence in the security forces and reinforces the message that peace and development offer a secure and dignified future.
