Recently Gajraj Corps conducted a two-day Joint Civil-Military Coordination Flood Relief Exercise on
on the Brahmaputra River in Assam to enhance preparedness and coordination for flood response operations during the ensuing monsoon season.
The exercise witnessed active participation from the Indian Army, National Disaster
Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Assam Police, Civil
Administration and Village Panchayats. The integrated exercise was aimed at strengthening
inter-agency coordination, synergy and operational readiness for effective humanitarian
assistance and disaster relief operations.
The exercise involved simulated flood emergency scenarios, including evacuation of
stranded civilians, establishment of relief camps, medical assistance, rescue operations,
communication drills and coordination mechanisms among participating agencies. Special
emphasis was laid on swift response, information sharing and seamless cooperation at the
grassroots level.
The exercise reaffirmed the commitment of the Indian Army and all stakeholder agencies
towards ensuring timely and effective assistance to the people of Assam during natural
disasters. It also provided an important platform for validating standard operating
procedures and improving collective response capabilities in flood-prone areas along the
Brahmaputra River.
Senior officials from participating organisations observed the exercise and appreciated the
collaborative approach adopted to enhance disaster management preparedness in the
region.
