The Indian Army will organise a two-day Mega Medical Camp at the Advanced Landing Ground (ALG), Kishtwar, on November 1–2 under Operation Sadbhavana, aiming to provide specialised healthcare and welfare assistance to approximately 4,500–5,000 people from Kishtwar district and adjoining remote areas.
Dr Jitendra Singh, Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and Member of Parliament from the Udhampur constituency, is scheduled to attend the event alongside senior military and civil dignitaries.
The initiative is designed to improve access to healthcare for medically underserved communities, particularly those living in remote areas. A multidisciplinary medical team comprising physicians and specialists in eye care, paediatrics, orthopaedics, nephrology, anaesthesia, ENT and dental care will provide consultations, clinical assessments, preventive healthcare guidance and prescribed medicines.
Diagnostic facilities, including Complete Blood Count (CBC), haemoglobin and Random Blood Sugar (RBS) tests, will also be available.
Digital Healthcare and Support for Vulnerable Communities:
A dedicated Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) registration facility will help beneficiaries create digital health IDs and access their health records under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission.
Special attention will be given to the healthcare needs of women, children, elderly people and other vulnerable groups. Essential medical and assistive equipment, including wheelchairs, crutches, walking sticks, walkers and hearing aids, will be distributed to eligible beneficiaries, alongside medicines, to improve mobility, accessibility and quality of life.
Dedicated Assistance for Veterans and Youth:
The camp will feature dedicated stalls for Veer Naris and ex-servicemen, offering assistance with veterans’ welfare, pension-related matters, documentation and grievance redressal in coordination with the concerned authorities.
A separate youth facilitation stall will provide guidance on Agniveer recruitment and career opportunities in the Defence Forces, covering eligibility requirements, recruitment procedures and preparation for selection.
Representatives from J&K Bank, HDFC Bank and the State Bank of India, along with officials from the Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Health departments, will provide information on banking services, government welfare schemes, agricultural practices, horticulture and livelihood-generation opportunities.
Strengthening the Army–Awam Bond:
The medical camp is being organised in coordination with Kishtwar Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Kumar Sharma, District Hospital Kishtwar and other district administration agencies. Kishtwar Police, civil administration, health authorities, local representatives and community stakeholders are also supporting preparations to ensure effective mobilisation and smooth conduct.
The initiative reflects the Indian Army’s continued emphasis on humanitarian assistance, inclusive development and community welfare under Operation Sadbhavana. By bringing specialist healthcare, diagnostic services, digital health registration, assistive devices, veterans’ support, youth counselling and livelihood awareness together on a common platform, the camp seeks to address essential community needs.
