Demonstrating its continued commitment to community welfare and inclusive development, the Red Shield Gunners under the aegis of Spear Corps organised an educational and recreational visit for specially abled children to the Golden Pagoda at Namsai, Arunachal Pradesh today.
The initiative saw the participation of 15 specially abled children and eight staff members from Navarupantar Children Home, Rupai, providing them with an opportunity to experience one of Northeast India’s most prominent Buddhist landmarks beyond the confines of their daily routine.
During the visit, the children explored the Golden Pagoda complex, admired its distinctive architecture and learnt about its history, Buddhist traditions and the values of peace, compassion and harmony associated with the shrine. They also interacted with Indian Army personnel, participated in recreational activities, captured memorable moments through photographs and enjoyed the serene surroundings of the monastery.
The Indian Army ensured the safety, comfort and well-being of all participants throughout the programme. The visit not only offered a joyful and enriching learning experience but also encouraged curiosity, confidence and greater social interaction among the children.
The outreach initiative reflects the Indian Army’s sustained commitment to humanitarian engagement and community development in the Northeast. By organising such programmes, the Army continues to strengthen its bond with local communities while promoting inclusion, compassion and the holistic development of specially abled children through meaningful civil-military engagement.
