The Indian Army has launched extensive Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations in flood-affected parts of Gujarat, deploying rescue, engineering and medical teams to support the civil administration as heavy rains continue to impact several districts.
Acting under the aegis of the Southern Command, the Army has mobilised relief and rescue columns to the worst-hit areas, including Navsari, Valsad, Silvassa and Ahmedabad. Additional teams have been kept on standby at Surat, Vadodara and Ahmedabad for immediate deployment as the flood situation evolves.
The relief operations are being carried out in close coordination with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), local administration and other responding agencies to ensure a swift and coordinated response.
Army rescue teams began operations late on the night of July 23 in the flood-hit areas of Navsari. So far, they have safely evacuated 43 stranded civilians from inundated locations, with search and rescue efforts continuing in affected areas.
The Army said it remains on high alert and is prepared to respond to emerging operational requirements as the situation develops.
Reaffirming its commitment to disaster response, the Indian Army stated that it will continue to work closely with the civil administration and other agencies to safeguard lives, provide timely assistance and support ongoing relief efforts across flood-affected regions of Gujarat.
