High in the rugged mountains of East Sikkim, where winding roads, unpredictable weather, and difficult terrain often place quality healthcare beyond easy reach, a different kind of mission recently unfolded. It was not a military exercise or a security operation, but a humanitarian effort that brought doctors, dentists, and preventive healthcare specialists directly to people living in some of the region’s most inaccessible villages.
The initiative, organised by Trishakti Corps under the Eastern Command of the Indian Army, reflected a broader philosophy that national security extends beyond defending borders—it also includes strengthening the health and resilience of the communities that live along them.
This comprehensive Medical and Dental Camp in the remote regions of East Sikkim, ensuring access to quality healthcare for communities living in difficult mountainous terrain.
Army medical teams conducted detailed health screenings for anaemia, nutritional deficiencies, hypertension, cardiac ailments, skin diseases, and eye disorders, while dental specialists provided expert oral healthcare consultations. The camp also focused on preventive healthcare through immunisation awareness and sessions promoting healthy lifestyles and hygiene.
The initiative highlights the Indian Army’s continued commitment to the welfare of border communities, complementing its operational role with humanitarian service. By taking essential healthcare to some of the most inaccessible areas, the Army reinforced its enduring commitment to improving the well-being of people living along India’s frontiers.
