India and Thailand have reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing bilateral defence cooperation and promoting peace, stability and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region during the 10th Thailand–India Defence Dialogue held in Bangkok yesterday.

The dialogue was co-chaired by Admiral Nuttapol Diewvanich, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Defence of Thailand, and Shri Satyajit Mohanty, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Government of India. The meeting reviewed the full spectrum of bilateral defence engagement and provided an opportunity for both sides to exchange views on regional and global security developments of mutual interest.

During the discussions, the two delegations assessed the evolving security environment in the Indo-Pacific and underscored the importance of close cooperation in addressing emerging challenges while fostering regional stability. Both sides reiterated their shared commitment to maintaining a free, open and prosperous Indo-Pacific through sustained dialogue and practical cooperation.

The dialogue reviewed progress made in defence ties since the previous meeting, covering a wide range of initiatives including military-to-military engagements, training exchanges, capacity-building programmes and maritime cooperation. The two countries expressed satisfaction with the growing momentum in bilateral defence relations and agreed to further strengthen collaboration across key areas.

A major focus of the discussions was defence industry cooperation. India and Thailand explored opportunities to deepen partnerships in defence manufacturing, research, innovation and capability development, aimed at fostering mutually beneficial collaboration between their respective defence industries and promoting greater technological cooperation.

The two sides also exchanged perspectives on regional and multilateral defence cooperation mechanisms, including ASEAN-led frameworks. They reaffirmed the importance of collaborative approaches in addressing shared security challenges and advancing regional peace and stability.

The meeting concluded with deliberations on future engagements and a roadmap for expanding bilateral defence cooperation. The dialogue reflected the growing strategic convergence between the two nations following the elevation of India-Thailand relations to a formal Strategic Partnership in 2025.

The successful conduct of the 10th Defence Dialogue marks another significant step in strengthening India-Thailand defence relations and advancing their shared vision for a secure, stable and inclusive Indo-Pacific region.
