The Counter Insurgency and Jungle Warfare School (CIJWS), Vairengte, extended institutional support to Vairengte College on Friday under the Army–Academia Modernisation Development Partnership Programme (MDPP), in a move aimed at strengthening higher education opportunities in the region.
Vairengte College, a relatively new private institution serving students in the area, has limited resources and caters to an important need for higher education in a region where such opportunities remain limited. Recognising the institution’s potential and its importance to the local community, CIJWS has adopted the college to support its development and improve facilities for students.
As part of the initiative, Maj Gen Kulvir Singh, SM, PhD, Commandant, CIJWS, handed over furniture to the college. The assistance is expected to strengthen classroom and institutional infrastructure and provide students with a more conducive environment for learning.
The programme was attended by representatives of the civil administration, faculty and students of Vairengte College, along with personnel from CIJWS.
Addressing the gathering, the Commandant underscored the importance of making quality higher education more accessible to students in Vairengte. He also highlighted the role of sustained institutional cooperation in creating opportunities for young people and enabling them to pursue their educational and professional aspirations closer to home.
The initiative is part of CIJWS’s continued outreach to the local community and reflects its commitment to education, youth development and meaningful military–civil cooperation. The adoption of Vairengte College is expected to contribute to the development of the local educational ecosystem and create greater opportunities for the youth of the region.
