Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS) General N.S. Raja Subramani today inaugurated the fourth edition of the Tri-Services Future Warfare Course at the Manekshaw Centre in New Delhi, underscoring the need for the Indian Armed Forces to adapt to the rapidly evolving nature of modern warfare.
Delivering the keynote address at the inaugural session, General Subramani highlighted the transformative impact of emerging technologies on military operations and stressed the importance of preparing for future security challenges through innovation, jointness and technological advancement.
The CDS said capabilities such as artificial intelligence, cyber operations, autonomous systems, information warfare, space technologies and data-driven decision-making are increasingly shaping the character of future conflicts. He emphasised that strengthening national defence preparedness requires greater integration and collaboration among the Armed Forces, industry, academia and the research community.
Organised by the Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff (HQ IDS), the four-week course brings together officers from the Army, Navy and Air Force, along with representatives from government departments, industry, academia and strategic institutions.
The programme will feature discussions on a wide range of subjects, including geopolitics, emerging technologies, cognitive and cyber warfare, multi-domain operations, scenario-building and technology-enabled warfare, with the objective of enhancing participants’ understanding of future conflict scenarios and evolving defence strategies.
