The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has successfully restored road connectivity to Huri in Kurung Kumey district, Arunachal Pradesh, by launching a 200-foot Bailey Bridge after the existing bridge was washed away in flash floods on the night of 11 July 2026. The collapse of the bridge had completely cut off the region, disrupting the movement of residents, essential supplies, and emergency services.

The restoration was undertaken on a mission mode by Project Arunank. Despite persistent heavy rainfall, swift river currents, unstable soil conditions, and repeated landslides, personnel of 85 RCC/756 BRTF worked relentlessly to restore this vital communication link. The remote location, difficult terrain, and limited availability of resources posed significant operational challenges throughout the mission.

BRO teams carried out the rapid construction and launching of the Bailey Bridge while simultaneously undertaking extensive clearance of mudslides, restoration of damaged road stretches, and improvement of approach roads to facilitate the movement of men, machinery, and construction equipment. Through meticulous planning, sound engineering expertise, and coordinated execution, the bridge was completed and traffic restored within a short timeframe.

The successful restoration has re-established a critical lifeline for the residents of Huri, ensuring uninterrupted movement of people, essential commodities, and emergency services. The local population has expressed appreciation for the dedication and professionalism displayed by BRO personnel in restoring connectivity under adverse conditions.

The operation once again underscores the Border Roads Organisation’s unwavering commitment to maintaining strategic connectivity and supporting the socio-economic development of remote border areas. Working under the motto “Shramena Sarvam Sadhyam” (Everything is Achievable through Hard Work), BRO continues to play a pivotal role in strengthening infrastructure and enhancing connectivity in some of the country’s most challenging terrains.
