Assam Rifles organised a series of health, fitness and medical outreach programmes across Chandel and Tengnoupal districts of Manipur as part of its ongoing efforts to promote wellness, strengthen civil-military relations and provide healthcare support in remote border areas.
A five-kilometre run titled “Chakpikarong Chases the Run: 5K to Fitness” was organised at Chakpikarong Public Playground in Chandel district. The event saw participation from Assam Rifles personnel, officials from the civil administration and police, Border Security Force personnel and around 40 students of Kendriya Vidyalaya Chakpikarong.
Continuing the fitness initiatives, Assam Rifles conducted a mega wellness campaign at Modi in Chandel district yesterday. The programme included a cycle rally and yoga session aimed at enhancing physical endurance and mental well-being among troops. A total of 162 personnel participated in the event.
In Tengnoupal district, Assam Rifles also organised Fit India Movement activities at Moreh, where nearly 60 troops and 20 local residents took part in yoga and Zumba sessions.
Meanwhile, Assam Rifles organised medical camps at J Munnomjang and T Minou villages in Tengnoupal district on May 25 to provide healthcare services to residents in remote border areas.
At J Munnomjang village in Moreh, around 150 villagers received medical check-ups and medicines. Medical teams also carried out door-to-door visits to provide treatment to elderly and bedridden residents unable to attend the camp.
At T Minou village, doctors examined and treated 94 patients, including men, women and children suffering from seasonal illnesses and common ailments. Medicines and medical advice were provided free of cost.
The initiatives were well received by local residents, who expressed gratitude for the healthcare support and welfare activities undertaken by Assam Rifles.
