As part of their orientation and familiarisation programme, newly commissioned Young Officers of the Assam Regiment visited the Headquarters Assam Rifles in Churachandpur district to gain firsthand exposure to the operational environment, traditions and ethos of the country’s oldest paramilitary force.
The visit commenced with a solemn wreath-laying ceremony at the War Memorial, where the officers paid homage to the brave martyrs who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.
During the visit, the Young Officers interacted with senior Assam Rifles personnel and Ex-Servicemen, gaining valuable insights into the force’s operational legacy, leadership philosophy and core values. The veterans shared their experiences from years of distinguished service, offering lessons in courage, professionalism and selfless commitment to duty.
In a gesture reflecting the force’s enduring respect for its veteran community, the officers also visited the residences of Ex-Servicemen and interacted with them and their families, acknowledging their invaluable contributions to the nation.
The visit reinforced the strong bond between serving personnel and veterans while providing the Young Officers with a deeper understanding of military traditions, leadership and esprit de corps. Such interactions play a vital role in shaping future military leaders by instilling the values of honour, service and unwavering commitment to the nation.
