Reinforcing its commitment to humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) has launched relief operations in cyclone-affected areas of Odisha’s Ganjam district following Cyclone Arnab.
As part of the humanitarian response, two Advanced Light Helicopters (ALH), operating from the Coast Guard Air Enclave in Bhubaneswar, undertook multiple sorties to deliver essential relief supplies to affected communities.
The helicopters air-dropped critical provisions, including food supplies and drinking water, to ensure immediate assistance reached people in areas where the cyclone may have disrupted access to essential commodities.

The operations were conducted in close coordination with state authorities to ensure the timely and effective delivery of relief materials. The deployment of Coast Guard aviation assets enabled rapid aerial access to affected locations, highlighting the importance of inter-agency coordination during disaster response operations.
The operation once again underlines the Indian Coast Guard’s expanding role beyond maritime security, particularly in humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR) missions. Its operational readiness, aviation capabilities and dedicated personnel remain crucial in responding to natural disasters and emergencies.
Through swift mobilisation, sustained aerial sorties and co-ordinated efforts with civil authorities, the Indian Coast Guard has reaffirmed its commitment to standing by citizens during challenging times.
