As part of the restructuring and implementation of DG NCC guidelines, a comprehensive review of NCC outreach and training in the Vidarbha region is currently underway.Major General Vivek Tyagi, ADG, Maharashtra Directorate, is visiting various NCC units, institutions, and facilities, including the watermanship facility at Futala Lake and the upcoming Drone Training Hub.
The Nagpur Group Commander, Group Captain Khushal Vyas, briefed the ADG as efforts gather momentum to expand NCC coverage to the remotest areas of Gadchiroli and Chandrapur. This visit follows recent meetings with the Hon’ble Governor and the Deputy Chief Minister & Sports/Youth Affairs Minister, seeking dedicated infrastructure support for NCC. A detailed proposal highlighting critical requirements has also been submitted to the Chief Minister.
He reviewed NCC training facilities in Vidarbha and met Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.
Discussions focused on cadet participation in national initiatives, challenges in NCC expansion, equestrian infrastructure upgrades, encroachments at Futala Lake affecting naval training, and enhancing SSB outreach.
Major General Vivek Tyagi is transforming Maharashtra NCC from a traditional cadet force into a future-ready youth leadership movement. He has played a crucial role in strengthening and modernising the Maharashtra NCC Directorate through youth empowerment, expansion, and technology-driven training initiatives.

Expanding NCC outreach across Maharashtra, especially in remote regions such as Vidarbha, Gadchiroli, and the coastal Konkan belt.
Planning to increase Maharashtra NCC strength by over 20,000 cadets, taking the total strength beyond 1.2 lakh cadets.
Promoting greater inclusion of girl cadets and bringing more schools and colleges under the NCC framework.
Introducing modern training modules, including drone operations, cybersecurity, AI exposure, and updated contemporary syllabus content.
Supporting the establishment of new NCC academies and training centres in Nagpur, Mumbai, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, and Konkan.
Encouraging cadet participation in nation-building initiatives such as Swachh Bharat, anti-drug campaigns, road safety drives, and social awareness programmes.
Emphasising the “Nation First” ethos, leadership, discipline, and holistic youth development within NCC Maharashtra.
