Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal AP Singh undertook a flying sortie with National Cadet Corps (NCC) Senior Wing Cadet Jakkula Tejasvi Reddy at the Air Force Academy, Dundigal, on October 20, 2026, offering the young cadet valuable first-hand exposure to military aviation.
The sortie took place ahead of the Air Chief’s final flying sortie with his first flying instructor, making the occasion a significant opportunity for the cadet to gain practical insights into flying operations.
As part of the pre-flight preparations, Cadet Tejasvi underwent cockpit familiarisation, safety briefings, ejection-procedure familiarisation and medical checks.
Before boarding the Kiran aircraft, Air Chief Marshal AP Singh briefed her on the aircraft’s specifications, major components, engine functioning, cockpit procedures and safety mechanisms.
During the flight, the Air Chief explained various manoeuvres, flight angles and steep turns, while also allowing the cadet to practise manoeuvres under his guidance.
The experience provided Cadet Tejasvi with practical exposure to aviation and encouragement to pursue her ambition of becoming an aviator. It also highlighted the opportunities available to NCC Air Wing cadets to explore aviation and consider careers in the Armed Forces.
The NCC continues to strengthen its training programmes to develop leadership, confidence, discipline and professional skills among young people. These initiatives align with the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047, encouraging youth to realise their potential and contribute to nation-building.
The flying sortie underscored the role of the NCC in nurturing future aviation aspirants and inspiring young Indians to explore careers in military aviation.
