The Indian Army organised a career outreach programme at Government Degree College (GDC), Bhaderwah, on October 21 to guide young aspirants from Jammu and Kashmir on career opportunities in the armed forces.
The programme was conducted by the Army Recruiting Office (ARO), Jammu, under the aegis of Headquarters Recruiting Zone, Jalandhar. It witnessed the participation of around 300 students, including NCC cadets, along with members of the college faculty.
College Principal Prof. Basharat Iqbal presided over the programme and appreciated the Indian Army’s efforts to engage with and empower the youth of the Jammu Division.

The interactive session aimed to familiarise students with the various entry schemes available for joining the Indian Army. Officials provided guidance on officer-level entries, special entry opportunities for NCC cadets and the expanding avenues for women candidates to pursue careers in the armed forces.
Emphasis on transparent recruitment:
The Army recruitment team reiterated that selection into the Indian Army is entirely free, transparent and based on merit. Students were cautioned against fraudulent agents and touts who may attempt to exploit aspiring candidates by promising recruitment in exchange for money.
The authorities advised candidates to rely exclusively on official sources for recruitment-related information, registration and updates through the Indian Army’s official website.
The outreach programme reflected the Indian Army’s continued commitment to youth engagement, career awareness and nation-building in Jammu and Kashmir. By providing accurate information on recruitment procedures and career pathways, the initiative sought to encourage young people to pursue opportunities in military service and contribute to the security and service of the nation.
