Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh inaugurated ‘GYANDEEP’, a newly established Hindi library at Sena Bhawan in New Delhi, on Thursday as part of the Ministry of Defence’s ongoing Special Campaign 6.

Being conducted from October 2 to 31, 2026, the campaign aims to promote cleanliness, improve office management, optimise the use of government space and strengthen the implementation of the Official Language policy. The new library seeks to encourage reading Hindi books and literature and promote the use of Hindi in official work.

As part of the campaign, approximately 35,000 square feet of space was cleared in South Block through cleaning and the disposal of old records. The freed-up space has been handed over to the Project Yuga Yugeen Bharat Museum (YYBM).

The campaign has also resulted in the closure of 1,361 electronic files and the weeding out of 1,746 physical files. Disposal of e-waste and other obsolete items generated revenue of ₹4.22 lakh.

On the occasion, the Defence Secretary felicitated eight Swachhta Veers in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the ongoing cleanliness drive.

Regular cleaning and maintenance of offices, segregation and disposal of e-waste, and other cleanliness-related activities are also being undertaken across various Ministry of Defence establishments, including Sena Bhawan, Kartavya Bhawan-II, Vayu Bhawan and KG Marg.

The initiative reflects the Ministry’s continued efforts to promote cleanliness, efficient record management, better utilisation of government resources and a stronger culture of working in Hindi.
