The Governor of West Bengal, Dr CV Ananda Bose, presided over a
distinguished felicitation ceremony today at Lok Bhavan in Kolkata to honour the
exemplary achievements, dedication and commitment to service demonstrated by
the cadets of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) Directorate, West Bengal & Sikkim.
The event was graced by Major General Amarpal Singh Chahal, Sena Medal,
Additional Director General, NCC Directorate West Bengal & Sikkim, along with other
senior dignitaries, officers and proud cadets.
In a highlight of the ceremony, the Governor conferred the prestigious Governor’s Medals upon 55 outstanding NCC cadets from the Army, Navy and Air Force wings.
These medals recognize exceptional performance in NCC training,
leadership, community service and contributions to the nation. Additionally, trophies and banners were awarded to the Best Army/Navy/Air Force NCC Unit and the Best Group for their superior overall performance.
The Governor also extended special appreciation for the stupendous
performance of the NCC contingent from West Bengal & Sikkim at the Republic Day
Parade and Republic Day Camp (RDC) 2026. Notably, Cadet Sergeant Priti Sharma was
adjudged the Best Air Force Cadet of the Senior Wing across 17 NCC Directorates
nationwide. The RDC Contingent secured the Trophy for the Best Line Area, reflecting
their outstanding drill, discipline and representation.
In his address, the Honourable Governor emphasized the pivotal role of the NCC
in shaping the character, personality and leadership potential of the youth. He highlighted its vital contribution to nation-building, instilling patriotism and fostering a deep sense of civic responsibility among young citizens.
The atmosphere during the event was charged with pride and admiration, as
dignitaries, fellow cadets and attendees applauded the awardees for their
remarkable accomplishments.
The Governor’s Medal Ceremony stands as a powerful testament to the pursue dedication, discipline and spirit of service embodied by the youth of West Bengal and
Sikkim. It serves as an enduring source of inspiration for all young individuals to
excellence and contribute meaningfully to the progress and prosperity of society and the nation.
