In a continued effort to strengthen national integration and broaden the horizons of students from remote border areas, the Trishakti Corps of the Indian Army organised a National Integration Tour for students of PM SHRI Senior Secondary School, Mangan, North Sikkim, to Kolkata and Odisha.
The initiative provided the students an opportunity to travel beyond their familiar surroundings and experience India’s diverse cultural heritage, history and technological progress. The tour also enabled them to gain greater exposure to the country’s rich military traditions and strategic institutions.
As part of the programme, the students visited important military and cultural landmarks, including the historic Fort William, while also experiencing the coastal landscape and heritage of Odisha along the Bay of Bengal.
The tour was aimed at fostering a deeper understanding of India’s unity in diversity, encouraging interaction with people from different regions and exposing young minds to educational, technological and career opportunities beyond their home state.
For students from the remote and strategically important region of North Sikkim, such initiatives serve as an important bridge between the border communities and the rest of the country. The exposure is expected to enhance their confidence, broaden their perspectives and strengthen their sense of belonging to the national mainstream.
The students returned to Sikkim carrying cherished memories and new experiences, along with a greater appreciation of India’s diverse heritage and a renewed sense of national pride and unity.
The National Integration Tour reflects the Indian Army’s continued commitment to youth empowerment, community outreach and strengthening the bond between the Armed Forces and communities in border areas.
