On the auspicious occasion of Buddha Purnima, the Spearhead Gunners, under the aegis of Spear Corps, organised a meaningful community outreach programme at Menchuka, reinforcing the Indian Army’s commitment towards fostering harmony, environmental stewardship and civil-military synergy.
As part of the initiative, a tree plantation drive was conducted in collaboration with Gaon Budhas (village elders), symbolising collective responsibility towards environmental conservation. The activity drew active participation from the local community and reflected the timeless teachings of Lord Buddha on peace, balance and respect for nature.
In a gesture of reverence towards the region’s rich spiritual heritage, gifts were presented to the 500-year-old Samten Yangchak Monastery, a revered centre dedicated to Lord Buddha. The offering underscored the Army’s respect for local traditions and its commitment to promoting the values of peace, compassion and social harmony.
The event was well received by the local populace and further strengthened the bond between the Indian Army and the people of the region. Such initiatives continue to play a vital role in enhancing community connect while inspiring collective efforts towards nation-building.
