Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (South), organised a solemn Wreath Laying Ceremony at Modi Garrison, Chandel District, to commemorate the supreme sacrifice of four brave soldiers who laid down their lives in the line of duty on 09 September 1963.
The ceremony paid homage to Havaldar Maniliana Lushai, Rifleman Damor Bahadur, Rifleman Satal Singh Rai and Rifleman Mande Thapa, who displayed exceptional courage and unwavering resolve while confronting insurgents near Zunheboto in the Sapotabhi area of Nagaland.

Faced with grave danger, the four soldiers demonstrated exemplary gallantry and devotion to duty, upholding the finest traditions of the Assam Rifles. Their sacrifice remains an enduring symbol of courage, duty and service before self.

All ranks of the Force assembled at the memorial to lay floral wreaths and pay their respects to the fallen heroes. A solemn silence was observed in remembrance of the martyrs, whose courage continues to inspire generations of Assam Rifles personnel.

Conducted with full military decorum, the ceremony served as a poignant reminder of the valour and sacrifice of the four bravehearts. Their legacy remains etched in the proud history of the Force and continues to strengthen the collective resolve of Assam Rifles to uphold the ideals for which they made the ultimate sacrifice.

The Assam Rifles salutes its fallen heroes and reaffirms its unwavering commitment to duty, honour and service before self.
