Stepping up operations against narcotics networks and illicit trafficking routes in the Northeast, Assam Rifles under the Spear Corps, in coordinated action with the CRPF and State Police, launched intelligence-based operations in Manipur and Assam, resulting in the seizure of narcotics worth over ₹82 crore and the apprehension of six individuals.
The operations were conducted in Jiribam, Manipur, and Sribhumi district of Assam, where security forces recovered 10.891 kg of brown sugar valued at approximately ₹80 crore and 14,000 Yaba tablets worth around ₹2.5 crore.
The coordinated action represents a significant operational blow to narcotics trafficking networks exploiting routes in the Northeast. The seizures also underline the effectiveness of joint intelligence-led operations and close coordination among security agencies in disrupting illicit supply chains.
The Assam Rifles, in coordination with sister agencies and State Police, continues to maintain sustained operational pressure against narcotics trafficking, with a focus on denying criminal networks access to established trafficking corridors and safeguarding communities across the region.
