Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will undertake the annual performance review of 16 Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs) in New Delhi on September 1, with a focus on boosting indigenous technology development and enhancing defence exports.
During the review, the CMDs of seven DPSUs — Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL), Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL), Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Limited (GRSE), BEML and MIDHANI — will present dividend cheques representing the Government’s equity share for the financial year 2025-26 to the Defence Minister.
Rajnath Singh will also release four publications on the occasion. These include ‘Aatmanirbhar DPSU – A Journey of DPSUs towards Self-Reliance’, DISHA, an initiative aimed at providing students with hands-on exposure to defence technologies and modern manufacturing processes, the Modernisation Roadmap of HAL, and the Indigenisation Roadmap of HAL.
The performance of DPSUs during 2025-26 remained strong, with their combined turnover reaching Rs 1.29 lakh crore, registering a growth of 15.4 per cent over the previous financial year.
The DPSUs recorded a cumulative Profit After Tax of Rs 23,136 crore, marking a 15.6 per cent increase over 2024-25.Defence exports by the DPSUs also witnessed a significant rise, increasing by 151.2 per cent in 2025-26 compared to the previous financial year.
The annual review is expected to assess the performance of the DPSUs and deliberate on measures to further strengthen self-reliance, indigenous capability, technological innovation and India’s position as a defence exporter.
