The Indian Air Force International Squash Championship 2026 commenced today at Base Repair Depot, Air Force Station Chandigarh, bringing together leading squash players from India and abroad.
Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, Chief of the Air Staff, attended the inaugural ceremony as the Chief Guest. Addressing the participants, the Chief of the Air Staff highlighted the role of international sporting events in fostering camaraderie, mutual respect and friendship among nations.
As part of the inaugural proceedings, Air Chief Marshal AP Singh also played a friendly squash match with Air Marshal M Baladitya (Retd) and Captain Dan Peskett of the United Kingdom.
The championship will continue until September 4 and features six teams, including international teams from the United Kingdom and Sri Lanka, along with veterans. The tournament includes team events as well as an open singles category, with participation from leading national and international squash players.
The championship is aimed at promoting sporting excellence while strengthening bonds of friendship and cooperation through sport.
