In a significant youth outreach initiative aimed at facilitating aspiring soldiers in Manipur, Assam Rifles organised a Pre-Medical Check-Up for prospective Agniveer candidates at Waikhong Village Football Ground, Kakching District, on 23 August 2026.

The initiative witnessed an enthusiastic participation of approximately 135 local youth from Waikhong Village and adjoining areas, reflecting the growing interest among the region’s youth to pursue a career in the Indian Armed Forces.

The medical screening was conducted under the supervision of qualified medical personnel, who carried out preliminary assessments and sensitised candidates to the prescribed medical standards and eligibility criteria applicable to Agniveer recruitment. The aspirants were also provided guidance on maintaining physical fitness, personal hygiene, overall health and medical preparedness.

The pre-recruitment assessment enabled the candidates to identify potential health-related issues well in advance, providing them an opportunity to take corrective measures before appearing for the formal recruitment process. Medical personnel also counselled the youth on the importance of sustained physical conditioning and a disciplined lifestyle.

The outreach programme went beyond medical screening, serving as a platform to motivate the youth to prepare with determination and remain focused on their goal of joining the Armed Forces. The initiative encouraged eligible candidates to make full use of available career opportunities and develop the discipline, commitment and sense of duty essential for military service.

The proactive engagement by Assam Rifles underscores its continued commitment towards youth empowerment, community outreach and national integration in the Northeast. By supporting the aspirations of Manipur’s youth and facilitating their preparedness for military service, the force continues to strengthen its bond with local communities while inspiring the next generation to contribute to the service of the nation.
