The Dhanurdhari Gunners of the Fire and Fury Corps successfully completed the Col Sonam Wangchuk, MVC White Water Rafting Expedition, traversing the challenging waters of the Zanskar River from Padum to Nimu in Ladakh.
The expedition tested the participants’ physical endurance, technical watermanship and mental resilience as they negotiated demanding rapids and challenging river sections in the high-altitude Himalayan environment. The soldiers displayed exceptional courage, teamwork and determination throughout the expedition.
The successful culmination of the expedition was marked by a ceremonial Flag-in Ceremony at the historic Hall of Fame in Leh. The event was attended by Lieutenant General Madanraj Pande, AVSM, SM, VSM, General Officer Commanding, Fire and Fury Corps, as the Chief Guest.
Addressing the participants, the Chief Guest commended the expedition team for its outstanding camaraderie, courage, discipline and sportsmanship. He appreciated their ability to overcome the demanding conditions and complete the challenging expedition with determination and professionalism.
The expedition was conducted in honour of Colonel Sonam Wangchuk, MVC, and paid tribute to the enduring legacy and gallantry of the decorated war hero. It also highlighted the Indian Army’s continued emphasis on adventure activities, physical fitness, teamwork and the cultivation of an indomitable spirit among its personnel.
Traversing one of the most challenging riverine routes in the Himalayas, the expedition served as a testament to the resilience and fighting spirit of the Indian Army, while reinforcing its commitment to adventure and excellence in the rugged frontiers of Ladakh.
