    INDIAN ARMY SWIFTLY NEUTRALISES UXO -WORLD WAR II VINTAGE IN ASSAM

    On 30 April 2026, an unexploded ordnance UXO (World War II vintage measuring approximately 12 inches in length and 6 inches in diameter was found at Ledo, Lekhapani in Assam. The UXO was found in civilian area, posing a potential threat to life and property.

    Responding promptly to the information, Red Shield Sappers of the Indian Army swiftly mobilised a Bomb Disposal team to the site. The team immediately secured the area, evacuated civilians from the vicinity and established a safe perimeter, ensuring strict adherence to all safety protocols.

    The UXO was carefully handled and transported to a designated safe location away from civilian habitation. It was subsequently neutralised in a controlled manner, eliminating any risk without causing collateral damage.

    The operation was executed with a high degree of professionalism, precision and adherence to established procedures. The timely and coordinated response ensured complete safety of the local populace.

    This incident once again underscores the Indian Army’s unwavering commitment towards maintaining peace, security and stability in the region, while safeguarding civilian lives.
