Assam Rifles organised a ‘Vijay Run’ at Lokra in Sonitpur district on 26 July 2026 to commemorate Kargil Vijay Diwas and honour the courage, sacrifice and valour of the soldiers who laid down their lives during the 1999 Kargil War.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from more than 1,500 runners, including Assam Rifles personnel and members of the local community, reflecting a strong spirit of patriotism and unity.
The run featured 10-km and 5-km categories, with participants running in tribute to the Kargil heroes while reaffirming their commitment to the ideals of national service, unity and selfless sacrifice.
Local residents appreciated the initiative, stating that such events provide an inspiring platform for the younger generation to connect with the values of discipline, patriotism and service to the nation.
Through initiatives such as the ‘Vijay Run’, Assam Rifles continues to strengthen civil-military relations, promote community participation and encourage youth to contribute to nation-building while preserving the legacy and sacrifices of the heroes of the Kargil War.
