India has delivered humanitarian relief materials, including food items and family tents, to Afghanistan’s National Disaster Management Authority (ANDMA) to support communities affected by devastating floods in Nuristan province.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said the assistance was provided in response to the severe flooding in Nuristan and reaffirmed India’s support for the Afghan people during the crisis. In a post on social media platform X, the ministry stated that “India stands with the Afghan people at this difficult time.”
The floods, which struck parts of northeastern Afghanistan, caused significant damage and casualties. Reports said flash floods in and around Parun, the provincial capital of Nuristan, resulted in deaths, injuries and several people being reported missing.
The latest assistance is part of India’s continued humanitarian engagement with Afghanistan, where it has provided emergency aid during previous natural disasters, including earthquakes and floods.
