Recently a high-level preparatory review meeting for the upcoming Durand Cup was held at the Netaji Indoor Stadium, bringing together senior officials of the Indian Army and representatives from various departments of the Government of West Bengal to review arrangements for the prestigious football tournament.
The meeting focused on inter-departmental co-ordination, logistics, security, infrastructure, transport, medical preparedness, and other operational aspects aimed at ensuring the smooth conduct of Asia’s oldest football tournament.
According to defence sources, the meeting was productive, with the concerned minister assuring the organisers of the state government’s full support. The minister also directed all relevant departments to prepare comprehensive action plans and execute their respective responsibilities in close coordination with the organisers to ensure the successful hosting of the tournament.

Defence sources further stated that the objective is to deliver a world-class sporting event that reflects the rich legacy of the Durand Cup while providing an exceptional experience for players, officials, and football enthusiasts.
The Durand Cup, organised by the Indian Army on behalf of the Armed Forces, continues to be one of India’s premier football competitions, attracting leading clubs and a growing international audience.
