As part of the Kargil Vijay Diwas 2026 commemorative outreach, the Indian Army, in collaboration with the Civil Administration, organised a Mega Medical Camp at Primary Health Centre (PHC), Hanu Yokma, reaffirming its steadfast commitment to the welfare and well-being of the border population.
The camp witnessed an overwhelming response, with 425 patients from 11 remote villages of the Aryan Valley receiving comprehensive medical care. The villages covered included Hanu Yokma, Hanu Goma, Hanuthang, Shakar, Chiktan, Biama, Garkone, Darchik, Achinathang, Skurbuchan and Sanjak.
The beneficiaries comprised 15 pregnant women, 35 newborns, 50 children, 200 male and 175 female patients, all of whom received specialist consultations, diagnostic evaluation and appropriate medical treatment.
The specialist medical team from CHC Khalsi comprised a Gynaecologist, Surgeon, Paediatrician, Dental Surgeon, Physiotherapist, Ophthalmologist and Medical Officer, supported by three paramedical staff. The team was further reinforced by a Medical Officer and Dental Officer from the Army Medical Corps, along with a Regimental Medical Officer from an Artillery Unit, ensuring the delivery of comprehensive, multi-disciplinary healthcare services.
A reputed healthcare company from Ladakh partnered in the initiative by facilitating the availability of essential medicines and medical supplies, thereby ensuring timely treatment and uninterrupted healthcare support to all beneficiaries.
The Mega Medical Camp exemplifies the Indian Army’s enduring ethos of “Service Beyond the Battlefield”, reflecting its unwavering commitment to improving the quality of life in remote border areas. Beyond its primary operational responsibilities, the Army continues to foster civil-military synergy through humanitarian initiatives aimed at enhancing access to quality healthcare and strengthening the bond of trust with the local population across the far-flung regions of Ladakh.
