    PM Modi attends Seychelles Independence Day Golden Jubilee celebrations

    Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the 50th anniversary celebrations of Seychelles’ Independence as the Guest of Honour, following an invitation from President Dr. Patrick Herminie.
    The visit marks the first time an Indian Prime Minister has participated in Seychelles’ Independence Day celebrations. The event also coincides with 50 years of diplomatic relations between India and Seychelles.
    As part of the commemorations, contingents of the Indian Armed Forces, including personnel from the Assam Rifles and the Indian Navy, took part in the national parade.

    An Indian Navy marching band also participated, reflecting the close defence cooperation between the two countries.In addition, Indian Naval Ships Tarkash and Ikshak were docked at Port Victoria as part of the celebrations and longstanding maritime engagement.

    The Prime Minister’s participation underscores the deepening strategic partnership and enduring friendship between India and Seychelles.

    PM Modi said-

    “Honoured to participate in the National Day celebrations of Seychelles, marking the Golden Jubilee of the nation’s Independence. The occasion was a fitting tribute to the remarkable journey of the Seychellois people over the past fifty years.India is proud to stand alongside Seychelles as a trusted friend and partner in its development journey. Our partnership continues to grow stronger with shared values and closer people-to-people ties. I am confident our friendship will grow even further in the times to come.”
