Acting on specific intelligence, Assam Rifles, in a joint operation with the Excise & Narcotics Department, successfully recovered heroin worth approximately ₹47.25 lakhs during a search operation conducted on 24 June 2026 in the general area of Tuikual North, Aizawl district, Mizoram.

The operation resulted in the seizure of 05 hongs of Heroin No. 4, weighing approximately 63 grams, concealed at multiple locations inside a residential house. Preliminary investigation indicates that the contraband had been smuggled from Myanmar for further distribution in Aizawl.

During the operation, four individuals (three females and one male) were apprehended. The seized narcotics and the apprehended persons have been handed over to the Excise & Narcotics Department, Aizawl, for further investigation and legal proceedings.

The successful operation underscores the effective coordination between Assam Rifles and sister agencies in curbing cross-border narcotics trafficking and reaffirms the Force’s unwavering commitment to maintaining peace, security and stability in the region.
