Shri Sanjay Seth chaired the 15th meeting of the Defence Information Technology Consultative Committee (DITCC) in New Delhi today, underscoring the importance of achieving self-reliance in information technology and accelerating the adoption of emerging technologies in the defence sector.
The meeting, organised by the Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff (HQ IDS), focused on strengthening indigenous technological capabilities and leveraging cutting-edge digital solutions to meet the evolving requirements of national security.
During the discussions, subject matter experts examined key policy issues related to the use of disruptive technologies in modern warfare. Deliberations covered a broad range of strategic areas, including the indigenisation of advanced semiconductor manufacturing, the development of sovereign operating systems and database technologies, and the strategic placement of data centres to support defence operations.
The committee also approved several projects aimed at enhancing the technological capabilities of the Armed Forces. Officials said the initiatives are expected to deliver long-term benefits not only to the defence sector but also to India’s broader technological and industrial ecosystem, in line with the government’s vision of a developed India under the Viksit Bharat initiative.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from HQ IDS, the Indian Army, Indian Navy, Indian Air Force, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), as well as representatives from academia and industry.
