The 16th BRICS National Security Advisers’ (NSA) Meeting was held in New Delhi on Monday under India’s chairship, bringing together National Security Advisers and heads of delegation from member countries to discuss a wide range of traditional and non-traditional security challenges facing the world.
During the meeting, the delegates exchanged views on emerging global security threats and explored avenues for strengthening cooperation among BRICS nations. Discussions focused on critical issues including energy security, food security, supply chain resilience, cybersecurity, climate-induced instability, and the growing use of emerging technologies by terrorist networks.
The meeting also reviewed the outcomes of the BRICS Joint Working Groups on Counter-Terrorism, held on May 21-22, and on Security in the Use of Information and Communication Technologies, held on June 8-9. Participants reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing cooperation in combating terrorism and cyber threats through greater information sharing, capacity building and closer coordination among law-enforcement and security agencies across BRICS countries.
The National Security Advisers and heads of delegation reiterated their resolve to combat terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, including addressing the misuse of new and emerging technologies by terrorist organisations.
The delegates also expressed strong support for India’s BRICS Chairship in 2026, being held under the theme, “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.”
Following the conclusion of the meeting, the BRICS representatives jointly called on Prime Minister and briefed him on the discussions and outcomes of the deliberations.
