On the occasion of International Yoga Day 2026, Eastern Command celebrated the timeless practice of yoga across its vast Area of Responsibility, reaffirming its commitment to physical fitness, mental well-being and holistic health. Guided by the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing”, special yoga sessions were conducted at Vijay Durg, Kolkata, and military stations across the Eastern theatre, stretching from the Himalayas to the banks of the Brahmaputra.
The celebrations witnessed enthusiastic participation by soldiers, veterans, families and civilian staff, highlighting yoga as a way of life that nurtures resilience, harmony and inner balance. Through a series of synchronised sessions, participants embraced the enduring values of wellness, discipline and mindfulness that yoga instils across all stages of life.
Under the aegis of Eastern Command, formations and units across the region marked the occasion with equal fervour. Brahmastra Corps organised yoga sessions at Military Stations in Panagarh, Ranchi, Nabagram, Barrackpore and Binaguri, where troops and their families came together to promote physical vitality, mental clarity and emotional resilience through the practice of yoga.
The Territorial Army units under Eastern Terriers also commemorated the day across nine states, reaffirming yoga’s role in fostering physical fitness, mental toughness and holistic well-being. The celebrations underscored the importance of integrating yoga into daily life as a pathway towards healthy living, inner harmony and lifelong wellness.
Similarly, all stations under 101 Area conducted special yoga sessions, with service personnel and their families actively participating in activities aimed at enhancing health, flexibility and overall well-being. The collective observance reflected the Indian Army’s enduring commitment to promoting a culture of fitness and preventive healthcare.
The observance of International Yoga Day 2026 across Eastern Command showcased the transformative power of yoga in strengthening both body and mind. As every asana echoed the message of healthy ageing and sustainable well-being, the celebrations inspired a renewed commitment towards lifelong wellness, operational readiness and collective resilience.
