The National Cadet Corps (NCC), India’s premier youth uniformed organisation, commemorated the 12th International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2026 with remarkable enthusiasm and discipline across the country. Demonstrating its enduring commitment to physical fitness, mental resilience, and holistic personality development, the NCC organised synchronized yoga sessions at more than 5,000 locations nationwide, drawing participation from over 8.30 lakh cadets, Associate NCC Officers (ANOs), Permanent Instructors (PIs), and NCC staff.

The nationwide observance reflected the organisation’s emphasis on cultivating a culture of wellness and self-discipline among the youth. Cadets from all NCC Directorates participated in coordinated yoga exercises, reinforcing the values of physical readiness, mental composure, and collective well-being that form an integral part of leadership development and nation-building.

Significantly, yoga sessions were conducted at several iconic and historically significant locations across India, symbolising the country’s rich civilisational heritage and cultural unity. These included the Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad, Golconda Fort in Hyderabad, Bodh Gaya in Bihar, Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, the banks of the Brahmaputra in Guwahati, Namo Ghat in Varanasi, Millennium Park in Kolkata, Sukhna Lake in Chandigarh, Marina Beach in Chennai, and the Konark Sun Temple in Odisha.

The large-scale participation underscored the NCC’s role as a vital instrument of youth engagement and national integration. By promoting fitness, discipline, teamwork, and social responsibility, the organisation continues to contribute significantly to the development of confident, responsible, and service-oriented citizens.

The observance of International Day of Yoga 2026 once again highlighted the NCC’s dedication to fostering a physically fit and mentally robust generation, aligned with the broader national vision of health, harmony, and human development.

The National Cadet Corps (NCC) is a vital pillar of nation-building, fostering discipline, leadership, patriotism, and social responsibility among India’s youth. Through community service, adventure activities, disaster relief, and military-oriented training, NCC develops responsible citizens and future leaders, strengthening national integration, civic consciousness, and the nation’s human resource potential.
