In a major blow to insurgent activities in Manipur, a seamless joint operation by Assam Rifles and Indian Army successfully dismantled active insurgent infrastructures in a remote sector of the state. On 16 June, Security Forces personnel launched a coordinated operation in the Henglep Sub-Division of Churachandpur district. Acting on precise intelligence regarding the movement of United Kuki National Army (UKNA) cadres, the operation was executed in treacherous terrain and inclement weather conditions. A fire fight ensued when the troops approached the hideout resulting in neutralisation of one insurgent while others escaped. Subsequent combing operations led to destruction of fortified bunkers and recovery of a sizeable cache of arms, ammunition and warlike stores. By dismantling infrastructure of insurgents, security forces reinforced their commitment towards restoring peace and normalcy.
