In a rare show of coordinated international concern, a coalition of 22 countries has issued a joint statement condemning what it describes as alleged hostile activities linked to Iranian state security organizations operating across Europe, North America, and Australia.
The statement, released on June 10, was jointly endorsed by the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, and numerous other European partners. It expressed alarm over what the signatory governments characterized as a pattern of lethal plots and malign activities allegedly connected to Iranian security agencies.
According to the declaration, the governments specifically cited alleged operations linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-Intelligence Organisation (IRGC-IO), the Quds Force, and Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS). The statement alleged that these activities have targeted Iranian dissidents, journalists, and Jewish and Israeli communities and interests abroad.
The coalition reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding national security and protecting individuals living within its borders, while calling on the Islamic Republic of Iran to immediately cease the activities described in the statement.
The signatory nations further alleged that Iranian security services have maintained long-standing ties with international and local criminal networks, accusing them of using such relationships to facilitate operations beyond Iran’s borders.
The joint declaration also referenced what it described as a recent campaign of attacks across Europe directed at Jewish communities, Iranian journalists, and U.S. interests. According to the statement, these incidents were claimed by Harakat Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamiya and allegedly supported through intermediary actors.
“The attempts to kill, kidnap, harass, or intimidate people in Europe and North America constitute clear violations of our sovereignty,” the statement asserted, emphasizing that such actions undermine international norms and the security of democratic societies.
The participating governments warned that they would continue to work together to identify, deter, and respond to what they described as transnational threats. They also signaled their readiness to adopt additional measures aimed at countering future hostile activities.
The joint statement was issued by the governments of the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, New Zealand, North Macedonia, Norway, Portugal, and Sweden.
At the time of publication, the statement represented the position of the signatory governments.
No response from the Government of Iran was included in the text of the declaration.
