In a major boost to maritime electronic warfare capabilities and the Government’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) has signed a Rs 449 crore contract with Accord Software and Systems Private Limited (ASSPL), Bengaluru, for the procurement of 20 Enhanced Capability Global Navigation Satellite System (ECGNSS) Jammers for the Indian Navy.
The contract, signed under the Buy (Indian–Indigenously Designed, Developed and Manufactured) category with a minimum 75 per cent indigenous content, was inked in the presence of Defence Secretary Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh in New Delhi on June 10.
The ECGNSS Jammers are designed to degrade satellite signal acquisition and tracking capabilities of adversary GNSS receivers and can undertake signal spoofing and deceptive jamming operations. The advanced systems will significantly enhance the survivability and operational effectiveness of Indian Navy platforms in a complex multi-threat environment.
The induction of these indigenous systems is expected to strengthen the Navy’s electronic warfare capabilities, ensuring safer and more secure maritime operations.
The contract marks another important milestone in India’s defence indigenisation drive, reinforcing the Government’s commitment to Make in India and self-reliance in advanced defence technologies while bolstering the nation’s maritime security architecture.
